Sometimes its easy to forget just how much good there is happening around us.
Market Drayton is home to a wonderful diverse and caring community, full of people who give their support to local causes, organise events, volunteer, fundraise and look out for one another.
I've chosen this blog as a little reminder of just how much there is to celebrate about our fantastic local community - and how proud I am to be part of it.
As a small independent florist, The Secret Garden is incredibly lucky to meet so many lovely people through my work. I've had the opportunity to support local events, organisations, volunteers and deserving members of our community in lots of different ways.
From providing flowers and table decorations to donating vouchers, taking part in local events and simply giving someone a little floral suprise to brighten their day. I believe that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
So rather than focusing on what divides us, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate some of the people, events and organisations that help make Market Drayton such a special place to live, work and visit.
Ginger and Spice Festival
The Ginger and Spice Festival is a fantastic celebration of everything that makes Market Drayton such a special place.
The festival celebrates Market Drayton's food heritage and cultural history, with a particular connection to the town's famous gingerbread, and includes food entertainment and community activities.
It's one of the highlights of the Market Drayton calender and brings together local people, visitors, businesses, volunteers and food producers to celebrate what makes Market Drayton unique. With its gingerbread heritage, food and drink, entertainment, markets and activities, there's always plenty going on and a fantastic atmosphere througout the town.
Ive been delighted to support fundraising for the festival by donating The Secret Garden gift vouchers. It's just a small way for me to contribute to an event that brings so much to the town and helps support our local community.

Market Drayton Festival of Lights
The Market Drayton Festival of Lights is another event that has become a special part of our local calendar.
I've been lucky enough to have had a stall at the Festival of Lights for a number of years, and it's always lovely to be part of such a fantastic community event.
With the Christmas lights, festive atmosphere, activities and local stalls, the event brings people from Market Drayton and the surrounding villages into the town to enjoy the start of the Christmas season.
For The Secret Garden, it's a wonderful opportunity to meet customers, see familiar faces, meet new people and showcase some of my festive flowers and creations.
I'm proud to support and take part in events like this and love being part of the community that makes Market Drayton such a special place.

Market Drayton Carnival
Another wonderful example of our community coming together is the Market Drayton Carnival. Events like these bring families, local organisations, businesses, performers and community groups together for a day of fun and celebration.
Seeing the streets filled with people, colour, music and smiles is a brilliant reminder of the community spririt we have right here in Market Drayton.
This year The Town Council described the July carnival as a spectacular parade through the streets and hopes nexts years carnival will be bigger and better.

Market Drayton 10k - Community Spirit in Action!
The Market Drayton 10k is another fantastic example of our local community coming together. Whether you're taking part in the race, volunteering, cheering from the sidelines or supporting friends and family, events like these create a real buzz around the town.
It's wonderful to see people of all ages and abilities getting invovled, supporting one another and helping to create such a positive atmosphere. For me, it's another reminder of just how much goes on in our local community and how many people give their time, energy and enthusiasm to make these events happen.

Market Drayton in Bloom
Market Drayton in Bloom is a wonderful celebration of the care, creativity and hard work that local people put into making our town and its gardens look beautiful. The town's in Bloom programme includes a gardening competion with categories including allotments and vegetable gardens.
Being a florist, flowers and growing are obviously close to my heart, so i'm always delighted to get get invovled.
I've entered my garden and my flower allotment into the Market Drayton in Bloom competition a couple of times - and was thrilled to win 1st prize! It was such a lovely achievement and recognition of all the time, care and effort that goes into growing and creating beautiful spaces. I was incredibly proud to see the allotment recognised alongside so many other wonderful local entries.
I love that Market Drayton in Bloom encourages people to get involved, get growing and take pride in our town. It's another great example of the community coming together to make Market Drayton an even more beautiful place to live.

Community Litter Picks
Community spirit isn't always about big festivals and celebrations. Sometimes it's simply giving people a couple of hours to make their town a nicer place to live.
Market Drayton's community litter picks are a wonderful example of this, with local residents coming together to look after the streets, green spaces and public areas we all share. It's a simple ideas, but it shows what can happen when people come together snd take pride in their town.

Community Events Bring People Together
One of the things that makes Market Drayton and the surrounding community so special is the mumber of local events thats bring people together.
Throughout the year, there are festivals, fundraising events, summer fayres, Christmas celebrations, gardening competitions and activities organised by local groups, charities, organisations and volunteers.
These events aren't just about raising money or having a good time. They're about bringing people together, supporting one another, meeting neighbours, supporting local businesses and creating a real sense of community.
I've been fortunate to support a number of these events, including the Woodcroft Summer Fayre. I was proud to support the Festival Drayton Centre during Vounteers Week, providing floral decorations to help celebrate the wonderful volunteers who give their time to our community.
And through my community giveaways, I've had the opportunity to brighten the day of some deserving local people with flowers.
These might seem like small contributions, but I belive that every little bit of kindness, support and generousity helps makes a community stronger.

A Community I'm Proud To Be Part Of
Looking back at some of the events, people and community projects happening around Market Drayton, I'm reminded of what a special place this really is.
From huge festivals and celbrations to volunteers giving their time, people raising money for good causes and neighbours simply looking out for one another, there is so much to be proud of.
As a small independent florist, I'm incredibly grafetful to be part of that community. The Secret Garden isn't just a flower shop - it's a small local business that is lucky enough to meet and support so many wonderful people.
Thank you to everyone who gives their time, supports local businesses, organises events, volunteers, fundraises or simply does something kind for someone else. Every little contribution helps make Market Drayton the wonderful community it is.
Here's to celebrating our town, supporting one another and continuing to make our community bloom!
